2014 Event

Join us for World Belly Dance Day Johannesburg 2014 on Sat 10th May at the Brightwater Commons in Randburg.

This year our chosen charity is the Johannesburg Children’s Home. Established in 1892 by a small group of dedicated women, JCH is Johannesburg’s oldest charity. Over the years thousands of children have rebuilt their lives with their special help, care and guidance – and have gone on to become happy, successful and fulfilled adults.

The home provides a safe refuge for 64 children of all races who have been found in need of care by the Children’s Court. Aged from 3 to 18 years, all our children have suffered physical, sexual or emotional abuse, severe neglect or abandonment. Some are Aids orphans and/or are HIV positive.

Although they receive a state subsidy for each child, it covers only about 11% of actual costs so they rely heavily on donations in order to do the work they do.

We will be collecting goods and cash on the day so please bring a donation. You can see what is needed on their Needs List.
